Child Centered Therapy

Helping Children and their Parents coummincate and connect

Is your child struggling? Are you?

Life is full and it moves fast. In my decade of working with children and families, one truth has stood out: parents and children are doing the best they can with what they have. Still, everyone can use a little help.

Through child-centered therapy, I’ll support your child in understanding and expressing their feelings. I’ll also work closely with you; providing parenting tools and helping you discover new ways to connect with your child. You are the most important person in your child’s life, and you’ll be an essential part of their healing journey.

Who I Am and What I Do

Hi, I'm Sara Powers, a child-centered play therapist who works with children and families navigating big emotions, trauma, and relationship challenges. My background includes school-based counseling, family therapy, and direct parent support, with a focus on helping kids feel seen, safe, and connected. I also draw on Theraplay-informed approaches to strengthen attachment and foster healing between children and their caregivers.

What is play Therapy?

Play therapy is a child-centered therapeutic approach that allows children to express themselves through play and art. Rather than giving instructions or directing the child, the therapist creates a safe, supportive space where the child can explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. Through the language of play, children process feelings, work through challenges, and build confidence and resilience. Play therapy helps children navigate difficult experiences and develop healthy coping skills in a way that feels natural and empowering to them.
